ModelRailScenes is a New England–based custom model railroad design and construction company serving clients throughout the United States.

 

  Founded by Brian Inch, a former art educator, ModelRailScenes specializes in the creation of highly detailed O scale layouts, while also offering expert craftsmanship in HO and N scale.

   With a dedicated three-person team, ModelRailScenes is equipped to handle projects of all sizes—from compact, detail-rich layouts to large, multi-level installations. Each build is approached with a balance of artistic vision, technical precision, and efficiency.

   Brian’s background in art education plays a central role in the company’s design philosophy. His trained eye for composition, scale, and realism ensures that every layout is visually compelling without unnecessary complexity—proving that thoughtful design often delivers the most powerful results.

   The ModelRailScenes team brings complementary strengths to every project. Riley Inch, Brian’s son, is an accomplished builder who has developed advanced skills through early, hands-on experience. Avery, the company’s IT and automation specialist, has an extensive background in system automation and is highly skilled in advanced wiring, control systems, and layout integration.

   ModelRailScenes builds both postwar conventional layouts and cutting-edge automated systems, including operating signals, switches, animation, and full train automation. As a focused, energetic, and efficient team, ModelRailScenes is able to deliver highly realistic layouts in a shorter timeframe than many larger operations.

   Services include complete layout design and construction, modular girder benchwork, lift-up and walk-in access solutions, CAD-based planning, automation, realistic animation, custom-built structures, and advanced weathering techniques to achieve an elevated level of realism.

   As a streamlined company with minimal overhead, ModelRailScenes offers flexibility—working either on-site or building complete layouts in-house for delivery and installation.
